R: Rhymes

In this lesson, we'll learn about the 'R' in F.I.R.E., which stands for 'Rhymes'. Rhymes are words that sound the same at like 'heat' and 'beat', or 'fly' and 'sky'. They make your raps memorable and catchy to listen to.

When you see the glowing star ⭐️ symbol appear in the video below that means you need to get involved (rap/move to the beat).

🎵🔔 Fire, inspire, liar, desire - they're examples of perfect rhymes.
🎵🔔 Blast, react, max, attack - they're examples of near rhymes - mainly rhyming the vowel sounds.
🎵🔔 Melody, better be, remember me, jealousy - they're examples of multisyllable near rhymes - where we rhyme more than one syllable.

Write the alphabet on the top of your page to help you find rhymes or else check out free rhyme dictionaries online like www.rhymezone.com and www.b-rhymes.com.

Activity 1 - Rhyme Time: Let's try a game - Say a word, and the next person tries to think of a word that rhymes with it. For example... 'Star'... 'Bar'... 'Charge'... 'Hard". Remember, rhymes don't have to be perfect. Pick a word and try to find as many rhyming words as you can. This is a great way to build up your rhyming vocabulary.

Activity 2 - Rhyme Story: Now, let's make a short story (or rap) using rhymes. It could be about anything you like! Remember your brainstorm from the last lesson? Try to include your idea in this story. Here's an example: "Once upon a time, in a far-off land, there was a tiny ant and a big brass band." See how 'land' and 'band' rhyme? That's what we're looking for!

Activity 3 - Share Your Rhymes: Time to share your rhymes. Read your rhyme story to a friend or a teacher. How does it feel to rhyme? Does it make your story more fun?

Remember: Rhymes are like the icing on the cake of your rap. They make your words dance and your ideas come to life. So let's keep rhyming and find our F.I.R.E! 🔥🎤
